BUPA Dental Care

Managed to get an appointment (after having to be assertive and slightly exaggerate my symptoms) for a broken filling and another tooth giving intermittent pain having not seen my dentist for some 18 months. Filling fixed OK and antibiotics prescribed for infected tooth.
Ten days later a crown came dislodged and managed to get an appointment by ringing in at 8 am for an emergency slot - otherwise three week wait !

I had a hygienist appointment arranged (I need them regularly for a gum problem) but was told as I was a very mild asthmatic I could not attend. They would not say if the policy would change or if I could attend at another time. My husband is older than me with COPD - he had his appointment a week later and didn’t even get a medical check up form. He complained about my service so I was told to phone the following week and was seen. Apparently different staff had different interpretations! As a nurse married to a doctor this made no sense

Emergency appointment after 48 hours in agony with infected gums (wisdom tooth). Swollen face. Appointment at 3.45pm and waited 45 minutes to be seen. Dentist rude and abrupt (as an emergency appointment dentist knew I was in pain and should be more sympathetic. Examined the area in under a minute and informed had a gum infection needing treatment with antibiotics. Told another appointment for examinations and for referral to hospital for removal of wisdom tooth. No pain relief - no information. Paid £22 consultation fee and £9.00 script fee. Awful dentist but receptionist friendly, helpful and calming
