Happy, Smiley staff who go the extra mile

Gastrointestinal and Liver services
June 6, 2016
I arrived for colonoscopy appointment early. having waited no more than 10 minutes and the staff were explaining what was going to happen. All the staff were very friendly. The theater staff were great too, talking with me to help the time pass quickly for what can be (at times) an uncomfortable procedure.

Great staff - speech therapy

Rehabilitation
June 6, 2016
I have attended the speech therapist at Conquest Hospital over a number of months now and will remain on the list for a while longer. The therapist has enabled me to call anytime during this period, should I need them. I have found them attentive and responsive to my needs and my condition has improved

Outstanding Experience - great staff

RREU
April 29, 2016
At my visit to RREU. Treated with efficiency, speed and respect. Communication good and continual, although unit was rushed off is feet. Very, very busy - staff were great and ensuring patients were well looked after. As a former charge nurse I am concerned re:changes but the whole team who looked after me were of excellent standards.

Care that was second to none.

Cardiology
April 22, 2016
I called 999 for my husband who was experiencing chest pain. The paramedics arrived very quickly and swiftly set about their business in a friendly and open manner. They took my husband to A&E at the Conquest hospital. He was diagnosed as having a heart attack. From that moment on he and I were treated very well, we were fully informed of all that was happening and what they would be doing. There were many encounters with staff from different departments and all of them treated us like human beings in a considerate and caring way. To cut a long story short, my husband was operated on, stents fitted (even though the surgeon, doctors and nurses had finished for the day, they stayed to work on my husband) on Tuesday and was home with all his medication, clearly written information and a follow up on Thursday evening. I cannot tell how very grateful we both are for the care and professionalism we received from start to finish. People may complain that they have to wait ages in clinics or for xrays or out patient appointments but when there is a life or death situation or a serious emergency The Conquest and it's team are the absolute best.

Dermatology Appointment

Dermatology
April 11, 2016
I arrived for my dermatology appointment at 11:00. The admissions desk told me the appointment was cancelled and rearranged. I had taken a days holiday and it had taken 1.5 hours to get there. It is a regular 3 monthly appointment.

Admitted on 3 occasions

April 5, 2016
Earlier this year my partner became very ill with serious complications (Sepsis). They were admitted to the Conquest on 3 occasions. During this period it was almost impossible to get through to GP etc. 111 telephone was a "useful" contact. It would have been helpful to be able to contact the hospital directly following discharge as the hospital staff knew the history. When we called, ward staff told us to contact GP! My partner was subsequently readmitted to hospital within 24 hours of discharge!

I had to have an MRI

Rehabilitation
March 14, 2016
I had to have an MRI of my feet. Firstly, the Radiology department lost my request (which had been hand delivered) and wanted to put me to the back of the line.

It took considerable complaining on my part for them to accept fault. They did sort it out in the end.

I had the MRI, the equipment they use to keep the food in place is poorly designed by people who understand technology better than humans! Nonetheless, all staff were polite, courteous and helpful. I have a variety of conditions that cause difficulty and they were sympathetic and supportive of my needs

The staff were amazing

Maternity
February 24, 2016
During my labour and after the staff were very welcoming and considerate of both mine and my newborns needs. They were very helpful but also gave me the space that I needed. The hospital it's self was accommodating to my needs as well.

Extremely understaffed!

February 23, 2016
Was asked to go to the maternity ward at 11pm last night.

I was greeted in a very abrupt manner in Murray Ward, and felt a little uncomfortable.

Upon arrival, I could see that the unit was extremely busy. Staff were rushing around, nobody knew what was really going on and the staff kept asking the same questions to myself and other patients because they couldn't remember.

My blood pressure was taken in the waiting room due to no beds being available.

I was finally given a bed 1 hour after arriving. It was then a further 25 minutes wait until a midwife actually came and saw me.

I was then put on to a CTG machine shortly after. There was a delay in this because one of the machines wasn't working properly.

Over an hour went past and I was still on the machine, I felt like the staff had totally forgot about me.

My CTG results came back fine, and the midwife then called for the Dr to come down. This took over 50 minutes.

I finally left Murray Ward at 3.45am, after a wait of nearly 40 minutes to be discharged.

It is disgusting that staff have to work in an intense environment, with lack of staff and no support.

One day something serious will happen and that will be due to lack of staff awareness because they don't know if they're coming or going!
