Top tips for writing online

  1. Avoid jargon.
The health and social care system uses a lot of jargon (ICS/STP/ICO etc) Remember your audience and make sure you're explaining things in a way that is relevant and useful to them
  2. Don't talk about yourself in the third person.
Avoid using acronyms for your name HWS (this could be Southampton, Southend, Suffolk etc). Instead, use 'We' our 'Our' - your website already has your logo in the top so you don't need to talk about yourself in the third person.
  3. Make it clear what you want people to do
Do you want people to download your report, attend an event or share their experiences? Remember to always include an action in your article.
  4. Think about structuring your article before you put it in
Don't forget you can move paragraph blocks around if you need to, use the little arrow on the side.
  5. Use bullets or numbering where appropriate
Bullets make text easy to follow. Try to keep points short and simple. Don't copy and paste bullets across but use the button in the formatting bar in the text box.
