Volunteers Week 2023
This week (1-7 June) is Volunteers Week, a national opportunity to recognise the incredible contribution volunteers make across our communities and to say thank you.
We would like to take this opportunity to recognise the fantastic contribution our incredible volunteers make.
From observations in health and care settings, to conversations with healthcare staff, patients and the public, our volunteers have gathered feedback and insight through many engagement activities, including:
- Enter and View activities
- Patient Led Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE) visits
- Mystery shopping
- Holding focus groups at local community groups
- Having one-to-one conversations with residents
- Sharing Healthwatch information at pop up stands
- Promoting and sharing surveys
- Supporting the annual Listening Tour
This activity helps ensure we raise the profile of issues that matter when it comes to improving your health and social care services.
Here is what just a few of our volunteers have to say about their experience volunteering with us.
“What motivates me to volunteer is my belief in the importance of patient voice…Healthwatch enables others and me to contribute to that voice in East Sussex”
“As I reflect on my time as a HWES volunteer over the last 10 years, I have enjoyed it immensely, meeting interesting people and trying to make an effective contribution”
“I also like working as part of a volunteer team making a difference to health and social care I have made lots of friends and met like-minded volunteers”
