Christmas presents for Children in the Emergency Department

The Friends of Eastbourne Hospital have donated £100 for Christmas presents for children visiting the Emergency Department (A&E) over Christmas. A variety of presents have been purchased to cater for the different age groups. Approximately 30 children a day attend the department and that is no different over the Christmas period.

Gary Marshall, Paediatric Nurse Practitioner said, “We would like to thank the Friends of Eastbourne Hospital for their generosity. The presents will go a little way to help make up for a child’s visit to hospital over Christmas.”

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is urging local people to keep safe and ensure the Emergency Department (A&E) is kept free for only those people who really need it.  It is vital that patients remember the Emergency Department is for serious or life-threatening situations. Patients who do not need to come into the Emergency Department with illnesses could be better treated at other health services, eg, GP, pharmacist, dentist or NHS 111.
