We also held a number of workshops on the following themes:

You can download the notes from these workshops and the presentations from our speakers that took place at the event at the bottom of this page.

Following on from the event, we asked our speakers to provide us with some feedback:

Darrell Gale

As ever; East Sussex Healthwatch, in their Annual Event, sought to engage residents across the County in their important work to give power to their voices on all things health. I was pleased to be able to present on a year of Covid response, and to participate in a lively discussion on primary healthcare.  These events always provide respectful challenge for decision makers and responsible officers like myself; and lour work and thinking is always better for this.

Dame Philippa Russell

2021 has been a year that none of us will forget. ‘Freedom Day’ has not restored our lives to what they were before, but some good things have happened. Healthwatch East Sussex’s AGM reminded us of the importance of ‘co-production’ by bringing together relatives, carers and support organisations to start the ‘big debate’ about how we plan for recovery, think about the possibility of a local ‘Winter Plan’ and reflect on the longer term reform of social care. There is much to discuss but July 21st showed both a real commitment to working together and cautious confidence as we future-plan our emergence from COVID-19.
