Healthwatch East Sussex Annual Event 2023
Our 2023 Annual Event took place on the 13th July at The View Hotel, Eastbourne.
It was great to see so many people in attendance. We were joined by members of the public and our colleagues from statutory and voluntary organisations.
Many thanks to all those who attended, and we hope that you found the event useful and enjoyed it as much as we did.
It was great to be able to share our achievements from the last 10 years and to share our plans for the future, as well as to receive feedback and engage in lively discussions about health and care in East Sussex.
On the day, we heard from 4 speakers from the NHS, local authority, and voluntary sector:
Sarah Russell – Assistant Director, Adult Social Care & Health, East Sussex County Council
Lou Carter – Assistant Director, Communications, Planning & Performance, Children’s Services, East Sussex County Council.
Richard Milner – Chief of Staff, East Sussex NHS Healthcare Trust
Jennifer Twist – Chief Executive, Care for the Carers
The presentations from the speakers on the day can be found at the bottom of this page.
Following our speakers presentations, we hosted a breakout session exploring the theme of Your Voice Matter.
Within these sessions our groups discussed the following questions.
Q1. How can we ensure public and patient voice is at the heart of local decision-making [in health and care]?
Q2. How well do health and care services ‘listen’ to local people and service users?
Q3. What practical suggestions do you have to encourage and enable people to share their health and care experiences?
Q4. What three issues should HWES prioritise in our work for the next 12 months?
The notes from the breakout discussions will be shared in our Event Follow up report. Keep and eye on this page and our social media as this will be coming soon.
Healthwatch 10 Years Celebration Event
In the evening session of this event we hosted our 10 year anniversary celebration.
During this session we heard from Louise Ansari, Chief Executive of Healthwatch England.
We also took the opportunity to thank our amazing volunteers who have helped to make all our work over the last 10 years possible.
