NHS Sussex are looking for young people aged 16-24 years to become Youth Consultants and help shape future NHS health and social care services in Sussex.
The Youth Consultant Role
Meeting with healthcare professionals about plans for services and sharing a young person’s perspective.
Helping involve children and other young people by designing surveys, planning and hosting workshops or events.
Designing or reviewing communication materials for children and young people.
Researching services and reviewing documents and reports.
Sharing ideas and helping us think differently!
Youth Consultants will meet every four to six weeks with additional project work based on your interest and availability. Meetings are online and in person.
They need volunteers who are:
Passionate about getting health care right for all children and young people and their families
From different backgrounds across our diverse Sussex communities, with different life experiences
Willing to learn about health and care services and undertake training in the role
Confident to share views and opinions – your own and those of other young people
How they support you
- A dedicated staff member and group and peer support
- Training and learning opportunities
- Feedback on what has changed as a result of our work together
- Expenses reimbursed and potentially reward & recognition payments for some projects
- Great experience for CVs and opportunity for a reference
