Patients and visitors to be surveyed about travel and transport

October 1, 2015

Patients and visitors to Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne DGH will be asked about their journey to the hospital as part of a travel survey being run by East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust over the next fortnight.

The survey will be conducted face to face with visitors on the two hospital sites and questions will include what transport they used to get to the hospital and the reasons for this choice.

In addition staff will be surveyed about their journey to work and any journeys they make during the working day and there will also be audits of all on-site car parks and counts of the number of vehicles coming and going from the hospitals.

John Kirk, Facilities Manager for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “The aim of the survey is to give us a better understanding of how patients, visitors and staff access the two hospital sites and what alternatives are available.

“The results from the survey will feed in to the Trust’s sustainable development management plan, which will focus on alternatives to the car, healthier travel options and the need for and availability of alternatives.”

All staff involved in asking the survey to patients and visitors will carry ID badges and the survey will run for two weeks from Monday 5th October.
