SECAmb success at equality and inclusion awards

South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) enjoyed a successful evening at this year’s Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion (ENEI) awards.

The Trust was awarded the Gold Standard Award for Equality and was, alongside Santander, one of only two organisations to receive the standard for 2015.

SECAmb had also been shortlisted in two award categories for the event, which took place at the Law Society in London this week (14 July).

The Trust’s Inclusion Hub Advisory Group (IHAG) was highly commended in the Team of the Year category while Inclusion Manager, Angela Rayner, was shortlisted for the Equality and Inclusion Champion of the Year award.

The Trust’s IHAG, along with SECAmb’s Governors, acts as the Trust’s ‘community of interest’. Members of the IHAG were appointed through an open and transparent process developed with stakeholders. The group, which met for the first time in September 2012, is outcome focussed and its activities are now extremely valued and respected across the Trust.

Angela, who works closely with the IHAG has led on equality and inclusion at SECAmb for four years.

SECAmb Director of Commercial Services, Geraint Davies represented SECAmb at the awards alongside Emergency Operations Centre Manager Gary Knight, IT Development Project Manager Karen Mann and IHAG member Paula Dooley.

Geraint Davies said: “I’m really pleased that SECAmb’s dedication to equality and diversity has been recognised at these awards. To be one of just two organisations to receive the Gold Standard is a real achievement. I’m also delighted the work of our IHAG has received such praise and would like to personally thank Angela for the commitment she shows to lead on such an important issue to both our patients and staff.”
