Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at Healthwatch East Sussex.  

Our volunteers give people a voice in health and social care by raising the profile of issues that matter to patients and service users, playing a crucial role in improving local health and social care services.

 

Why Volunteer with Healthwatch East Sussex?

At Healthwatch East Sussex, we make volunteering work for you. Whether you can only spare a few hours or are looking for regular involvement, we’ll make sure to match your availability and interests to make volunteering a rewarding and enjoyable experience.

Our host East Sussex Community Voice CiC, is an accredited Investing in Volunteers organisation, and will support you throughout your volunteering and help you develop skills, gain experience, and make a difference.

By volunteering with us you will be:

  • Provided with regular training opportunities.
  • Gaining first-hand experience of health and social care.
  • Meeting new people from all walks of life.

Who can volunteer with Healthwatch East Sussex

Healthwatch has volunteering opportunities for people of all experiences.

Our young Healthwatch volunteer program is open to anyone between the ages of 12 and 21, living or studying in East Sussex.

Healthwatch has a variety of activities open to both Healthwatch and Young Healthwatch volunteers to suit your interest and experience, including:

  • Reviewing websites as one of our ‘Mystery Shoppers.’
  • Becoming a Liaison Representative and attending conferences, meetings, and groups on behalf of Healthwatch.
  • Attending engagement activities and capturing the public’s views and experiences.
  • Conducting Enter & View visits to local health and social care services, gathering feedback from the people that use it. (role subject to requirements)
  • Attending meetings with professionals and decision makers to share findings, views, and ideas.
  • Taking part in annual Patient Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE), visiting local hospitals to provide a patient’s point of view of the service.
  • Providing feedback on surveys, questionnaires, and communication materials.
