Sad treatment for patient; now long covid
March 21, 2022
Having followed all correct procedures, two weeks later they were admitted to the hospital for 8 hours for oxygen. They were discharged but a few days later still very unwell. Contacted surgery and nurse called back gave inhaler (no physical contact) still unwell called surgery again and nurse, again no contact, sent antibiotics. Still very unwell so rang doctor who over the phone arranged for chest x-ray a week later!
Called to get the results and was told the patient had a Pneorothorax. When we rang for results was told if they feel worse, go to A&E . I had to rush them to the hospital where they were admitted starightaway.
It is now March 21st and they have been in hospital for 2 weeks EDGH and 2 weeks in Guys. They have come home with a chest drain and are now having to go back to Guys as the lung is not repairing.
If someone had maybe seen the patient when they first said they were very breathless but with no physical contact it, would have been impossible to diagnose.
Their dr has been brilliant in the past with this patient and the nurses do an amazing job. I just need to let you know I feel upset on behalf of the patient.

I've been with this surgery over 10 years. Recently it's been impossible to get through, get an appointment or even just to be heard. Being disabled and having mental health this isn't fair when we can't get the right support from our GPS
