Lovely friendly ward

August 7, 2024
My mother stayed on the ward after a nasty fall at home, the rehabilitation staff were so lovely with her and now is back home and much more confident. Food was pretty hit or miss but I understand this is out of control of the ward. Great staff, mum was washed and dressed everyday and even had a shower after a while which was lovely for her.

Nurses sit in bay on phones mostly.

April 16, 2024
Dad was left not dressed in bed most of time unless we instigated nurses get him dressed and in chair. Nurses in bay mostly on phones. Rarely initiated conversation with patients or thought to remind them to do exercises. Clock and telly not visible to most pts in bay. No activities or stimulation apart 3 x weekly physio sessions. Also missed severe sepsis diagnosis in spite of us flagging warning signs a week before emergency admission to A & E.

Was admitted from RSCH for stoma instruction and wound care and dressing. Staff put me at ease and were very helpful overall. Please improve food and offering.

APPALLING BULLYING STAFF

April 12, 2023
Elderly stoma patient bullied overnight in this unit. Berated by staff member when bag leaked and was sneered at, 'who do you think you are; this is not private, its NHS; I have other patients' . Shocking, upsetting, terrifying!

Communication. What communication?

My Wife is in the rehab centre as I write. Her mobility is slowly getting better but her mental capacity leaves a lot to be desired and does not seem to be a concern to the staff? To contact the ward in the day is like trying to speak to the pope! Night staff, no problem but in the day..forget it.

Communication poor

Maybe I was 'unlucky' but staff spoke limited English so couldn't answer my questions. Unfortunately don't have any polish friends so couldn't get a translator in
