Can’t get an appointment

I have been registered here for 10 years but haven’t been able to get an appointment for over a year now. Every time I have one booked, i get a text message a couple of weeks before to say it is cancelled. This has now happened to me 3 times. The practice only currently has one nhs dentist but it doesn’t seem fair that they will only see patients originally registered with this dentist. I’ve been told by a private dentist that I need over £1k of work done to my teeth. I cannot afford this and will probably loose one of my molar teeth because I can’t get an NHS appointment.
