Children at the Alex bowled over by Sussex Sharks

July 22, 2015

The Sussex Sharks cricket team delighted young patients with a visit to The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton.

The Sharks who play at The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground in Hove toured the hospital talking to patients and handing out signed cricket bats and t-shirts.

James, father of young patient Ryan Crook, said: “It was such a surprise when the cricket team showed up. Ryan was delighted, it really brightened up his day.”

Mark Robinson, Sussex Cricket Manager, said: “All of us found the trip a very humbling experience. It put in perspective how unimportant our worries often are compared to that of a parent whose child is dangerously ill. There were many great lessons for us to take away not least the bravery of the children and the dedication and clear thinking of the staff under pressure.”
