NHS 70th street party organiser wins Employee of the month award

Liam Currie, an Integrated Support Worker for the Crisis Response Team in Eastbourne, has won an employee of the month award, for his organisation of the NHS street party held on 30th August, to celebrate the NHS 70th Birthday.

Jenna Khalfan, Associate Director for Communications and Engagement, who nominated Liam, along with a number of other nominations said: “Liam has demonstrated each and every one of our Trust values through his brilliant organisation of the NHS70 birthday street party, which took place in Eastbourne on the 30th August. Liam approached a number of people in the Trust, in the local council and local businesses, about organising a street party to celebrate NHS70. He thought it would be a great way to publicise the important work of the Trust, and ensure health and wellbeing messages got directly to members of the public. Liam engaged with, and involved, many members of staff and teams across the Trust, encouraging them to publicise the event, make cakes or have stalls. He worked together with local businesses ensuring they were on board, offering discounts on food and drink to members of the public and staff.

“He showed respect and compassion by going above and beyond, in his liaisons with the council to make sure that the road was closed, risk assessments were completed and volunteers were on hand on the day. The event itself saw numerous teams from across the Trust and health and wellbeing in East Sussex have stalls, offering important advice to members of the public. Local businesses were all on hand offering discounts on food and drink, with a percentage of the proceeds going to the Friends of Eastbourne Hospital.  Without Liam’s perseverance, commitment and ingenuity, the event would not have happened. Liam is a brilliant example of the amazing people that we work with every day at the Trust. He is an inspiration to us all.”

Liam was presented with his award by Trust Chairman, David Clayton-Smith.
