Update on changes to GP services in Hastings and St Leonards

November 9, 2017

Communication from Hastings and Rother Clinical Commissioning Group

Following our recent announcement, there has been a change to arrangements for some of the patients previously registered with Cornwallis Plaza GP practice.

Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances meant that the partner GPs at Harold Road Surgery were unable to take on a substantial new cohort of patients in addition to their existing patients at this time. This decision, which we respect, was outside the control of the CCG, and so our staff have taken swift action to ensure those patients affected will continue to be able to access good quality, safe health and care services.

As the Harold Road Surgery will now not be taking over the running of the Shankill Road branch, the majority of the patients originally allocated to Harold Road Surgery have now been allocated to either Beaconsfield Road Surgery or The Station Practice. Every care is being taken to try and allocate people to the closest surgery to their home.

This means that the Shankill Road site, which Harold Road Surgery was originally due to take over, will now have to temporarily close.

Ensuring continued access to safe, high quality health and care services for local people is the main priority for Hastings and Rother CCG. The CCG has worked extremely closely with local GP practices throughout the complex re-allocation process to obtain assurances that these practices have the capacity to provide the levels of service and quality required for the patients they will be receiving.

We apologise unreservedly for any inconvenience, anxiety or confusion caused. We are committed to ensuring that all patients previously registered with Cornwallis Plaza have continued access to safe, high quality care.

Anyone concerned about the changes, or who has questions about their ongoing care, can contact 01424 735666 or hrccg.cornwallisplazaenquiries@nhs.net – lines and emails will be monitored between 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday. There is also an option to leave a message outside of these times.
