UroGynaecology Unit is first in Sussex to attained national accreditation
The Trust’s UroGynaecology unit is the first in Sussex to attained national accreditation from the British Society of UroGynaecology following a recent inspection. It is one of only 22 units all over the country to gain this status.
Accreditation status is given to the units for the high quality UroGynaecology service offered to patients and a strong governance framework including multidisciplinary team input.
Mr Hosam Elhalwagy Consultant Obstetrics and UroGynaecology said “Attaining this national accreditation is a major achievement for the Trust’s Gynaecology department and marks us as one of the best units in the country. Local women can be assured of the quality of the service we offer which, thanks the drive, ambition and expertise within the team, we will continue to build upon.”
The inspection, undertaken in January, particularly commend the Unit for its strength in excellent leadership and team working; good forward planning developing local networks and good team work between the Consultant Urogynaecologists, the Specialist Nurses, and other related disciplines.
The unit is part of the gynaecology and obstetrics department. Patients referred to the unit enjoy the benefits of two state of the art urodynamic machines which measure bladder pressure and flow rate and a transanal scan machine which is was kindly donated by the Friends of the Hospital.
