Dismissive, uncommunicative and judgemental
I was a patient at The Seaford Dental Practice for eleven years but never happy with the dentists attitude and often felt that he rushed the work that he did as I was on Universal Credit since leaving teaching. He never seemed to explain anything or relate to me as a human being. I felt that he was dismissive. He had to pull a tooth on one occasion, which he had worked on because it was infected underneath. On the plus side, I was pleased that he cleaned my front teeth even though he did not seem to properly look at them teeth on a routine check up. About a year ago I tried again and again to book an appointment but he refused. I persisted and wrote him a letter asking why? He then gave me an appointment without any explanation for the battle that I had been through with the receptionist. I think that I had accidentally missed an appointment but had not received the usual call the day before to remind me. This was my fault on that occasion though. More recently I have received an unsigned letter from him stating that he has randomly dropped 30% of his patients "following a review of our NHS capacity", of which I am one. I think it's unlikely that I'll find another NHS dentist, given the financial crisis in the NHS. Given my experience with this dentist I would not want to reregister, even privately.
