Awful surgery

October 16, 2023
I have never been with such a bad doctors surgery before, constant messages from the surgery with staff shortages, no appointments etc, seems to be a regular occurrence . Trying to get a face to face appointment is very difficult. The GPS never seem to read my families health records. Give medication without seeing the patient. GP asking why I need certain medication even though consultants from the hospital have written numerous letters stating GP to take care of my pain medication. Medication I was suppose to be put on over 6 months ago was ever given to me, as per a consultants letter.Just awful service all around.

Excellent, same day appointment

May 13, 2021
I sent a phot to my GP as I had a health concern. Following a prompt e Mail confirmation of receipt, my GP phoned the same day. She was extremely friendly and discussed the photo with me and referred my to a consultant at EDGH and I have the appointment later this week. Superb service, caring and ultra efficient. Thank you

emails go unanswered, promised phone calls never materialise. No continuity of care. Blood tests missed off forms. Prescription medicines removed.

Good afternoon,

Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback. The standard of care you describe is certainly not the standard of care we would wish to promote. Please can you contact me at the surgery on 01323 470370 so I can investigate?

Best wishes

Not reliable

May 12, 2021
Every time I’ve needed prescription I’ve had to call back and chase it as I’ve turned up to the pharmacy, hours later, to be told nothing is there having been told by the doctor that it would be sent straight away. These have mainly been for my daughter who is 18 months so say 5 prescriptions since birth? All have required me chasing doctors again and again.
SOME receptionists come across blunt / abrupt but are generally accommodating given the issue is usually my daughter.
Difficult to get through at 8am (most docs the same!)

Hello,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback. I am sorry to hear of the delay in prescribing and that you have had to chase us for Prescriptions.

We have recently taken the steps to employ a Prescription Clerk who has been in post since the 01 June 2021. Her role is to oversee the prescribing process within Practice and she works very closely with our Clinical Pharmacists and GPs to avoid any delays.

If you are still experiencing delays or would like us to investigate further please contact us at the Practice on 01323 470370. It is only when we receive feedback on specific cases that we are able to review our Policies and make changes for the better.

I'm sorry to read that the Customer Service has not met your expectations. We have the facility to listen to calls and would encourage you contact at the Surgery in this instance so we can review the call with the call handlers. We need to ensure that our Patients feel confident when contacting us.

All feedback is shared with Practice so we can continue to learn and grow.

Best wishes

Very poor service

My repeat prescription is never ready on time, so I have to go days without my medication, which as you can imagine is not a great situation to be in and the staff members I have dealt with are very unhelpful.

Kind & caring GPs

May 5, 2020
I have quite complex medical needs, which tend to hit me all at once. At these times I have to rely very heavily on help from doctors. Harbour Medical Practice have always been excellent. The GPS are kind, caring and take time to explain their decisions. They are also very honest and straightforward and will say what they can and can’t do. Being looked after by this practice has made me feel very safe medically and I’m very grateful to the whole team there.

Great with children, appointments a challenge

January 22, 2019
Although securing an appointment has been challenging, the treatment of my young son has been fantastic. My own experience as an adult has been mixed, with one doctor refusing / unable to locate notes on a life-long condition which a member of admin staff was able to find in seconds. A different doctor gave great service / treatment on a separate occasion. Most appointments have been later than scheduled to date - a challenge with a child!

Booking appointments

August 23, 2016
Regular appointments are required for diabetes. The doctor who says make an appointment in 3 months - no chance, you can only book 1 month in advance. So begins the chase the appointment game. If and when you do get one then comes the chase the nurse appointment 10 days before seeing the doctor. It is just a constant battle of us having to demand, standing at the counter trying to get essential healthcare.

No appointments

July 27, 2016
I want an appointment. I have to ring at 8.30am to get an appointment that day, otherwise it can be anything up to a fortnight. I work, and cannot get to a phone, if I asked for cover tor a couple of minutes - five, but it can be up to 25 minutes before I get the phone answered. I call in now and stand my ground. I find how would you fell if your children were left by their teacher for 30 minutes, usually works.

Never any appointments - what goes on?

July 27, 2016
What's the point of phoning, you never get an appointment, see the same GP. Receptionists can be really stroppy on the phone. Am in the process of looking for a new surgery
