Who are Healthwatch East Sussex?

We are the local independent watchdog for health and care services. These include GP, outpatients, mental health services for, emergency or urgent care, hospital stays, dentists, pharmacies, occupational therapists, district nurses, care in your own home, or residential care homes.

We gather your views and experiences which help decision makers to develop better services.

What is a Listening Tour?

Each year we focus on an area of East Sussex to engage with local people and understand the needs of their communities in more detail.

Our 2022 ‘Listening Tour’ captured feedback and experiences of health and care services from Eastbourne residents and took place between the 15th and the 30th of October.

We collaborated with local charities, community groups, health and care providers and the local authority to meet people ‘where they are’ across the Borough of Eastbourne over a two-week period.

What did we do?

During the tour we were out and about capturing feedback about local services. We heard from 489 people via:

  • A launch event
  • Surveys and online engagement
  • Discussion groups and one-to-one conversations
  • Pop up stands in various locations within the community
  • Our Big Health and Care Question Time

What now?

We will use the feedback we received from the tour to make recommendations to support positive changes to local health and care services.
