It's a hospital not a smoking area!
November 20, 2015
18 months ago I had my son at the conquest, previous to his birth I had to attend weekly antenatal appointments for health reasons and to walk past a large amount of people smoking right by the doors especially hospital patients, I felt this totally unacceptable and disgusting for myself and my young daughter who I occasionally had to bring with me, also a number of times found visitors to the hospital smoking weed which is even more unacceptable! Something serious needs to be done about this situation, it's a hospital not a smoking area!!!!
If you have a ban then it should be enforced.

You always have to walk passed groups of people standing outside the main door smoking.
Nothing worse than seeing patients in the pjs hooked up to drips sitting in wheelchairs outside smoking.

NHS smoking ban at Conquest Hospital
November 19, 2015
I find it disappointing that the official NHS smoking ban at Conquest Hospital, which covers all of the outside grounds & curtilage, is constantly and openly flouted.
Smoking openly goes on outside the main entrance, where it must be absolutely known to all levels of management that it is taking place, but nothing is done about it and non (& ex) smokers have to run the gauntlet of thoughtless smokers.
I have never seen a smoker asked to stop or leave the grounds.
Even more shockingly, it is the Conquest staff who are some of the worst offenders!
There are several smoking enclaves for staff only, the most obvious being at the staff entrance of
the "Theatre sterile store", where a quick glance regularly reveals several smokers and lOO's if not thousands of discarded cigarette ends and other smoking paraphernalia.
As both a visitor & a service user I have personally witnessed this on dozens of occasions.
Management and professionals cannot be unaware and they should be ashamed that they have .let this continue for many years. When will management properly implement their own policy.

Staff were great, helpful and attentive. They were very friendly and the overall facilities were good, the hospital was clean and the food was good quality however sometimes food offered was limited and little privacy was given, for example, I was not allowed my bed curtain pulled unless I was getting changed and even then staff were eager to open it.
Reassuring and efficient
Murray Ward
November 10, 2015
Visited Murray Ward after phoning the 24 hour maternity helpline number.
It took less than 5 minutes from arriving to be taken through to the ward
The midwife which saw and treated me was kind, reassuring and a credit to the trust.
I must also comment on how spotless the ward was
It's great to know that support is available 24 hours a day.

Didn't have to wait too long

Timely and excellent treatment in A&E
November 8, 2015
My wife fell while out walking. We arrived at A&E at 5.00pm. Triage(x2), X-rays(x2), junior doctor, registrar ,plastered and out within two hours. Calm, considerate and cheerful treatment in a timely fashion.
Receptionist has never been welcoming
November 5, 2015
I have visited the outpatients clinic on the 3rd floor for a number of pregnancy scans - the receptionist has not once come across as approachable and I always find that she finds it an effort to engage with patients.
When I visited today, she was on the telephone and instead of asking me to wait, she thought it would be a good idea to try and do 2 things at once and communicate with me while in the middle of the conversation.
It would be nice to visit just once and have a nice experience.

My daughter (4) had a broken bone. Whilst in A&e and in after care I wasn't listened to. I know my child and I am a professional myself and it didn't feel nice - my daughter was in complete agony and shock
On the part of staff experience was good

I had all the tests done for lung cancer and everything was going ok until the 04/11/2015,. Othe morning of the 23/10/2015 the Doctor I was under phoned and talked to my wife while I was at my GP, I then talked to the Doctor on the 28/10/2015 where he told me the same thing he had told my Wife on the Friday before, that I would be going into Hospital and would have the bottom half of my left lung removed, when I went to Guys Hospital for the pre op check, I was told different by the surgeon, so I told the cancer nurse at the Conquest I had some concerns about what was happening, so today the 04/11/2015 the Dr phoned me and we talked and when I said that he had told me and my Wife on two separate occasions that they were going to remove the bottom half of my left lung removed, he turned around And told me he'd never said that, so I now have no trust In any Doctor at the Conquest or in the NHS. He broke that most important trust that comes with being a Doctor.
The only time I have ever seen the Doctor in question was when I was first referred to them back in September 2015.
